Ceramic Key Properties

  • Corrosion Resistance: Provides excellent protection against rust, oxidation, and environmental degradation, making them suitable for use in harsh or corrosive environments.

    Chemical Inertness: It is resistant to most acids, alkalis, and other corrosive substances, ensuring durability in harsh chemical environments.

    Density: The density of 99.5% Alumina is approximately **3.90–3.95 g/cm³**, giving it a robust and dense structure.

    Temperature Stability: Alumina conducts heat effectively compared to other ceramics, though it is lower than metals. Alumina withstands extreme temperatures, with a melting point of approximately 2,050°C.

  • Optical Transparency: Thin sections of high-purity alumina can be optically transparent, which is useful in specific optical and laser applications.

    Electrical Insulation: It is an excellent electrical insulator, even at elevated temperatures.

    Biocompatibility: Alumina is biologically inert and safe for medical applications such as implants and prosthetics.

    Durability: Alumina is one of the hardest ceramic materials, making it highly wear-resistant and suitable for abrasive environments.
