Ceramic (Zirconia) Hexagon Bolts are engineered for demanding applications where exceptional strength, wear resistance, electrical insulation, and corrosion resistance are essential. Manufactured from high-purity zirconium dioxide (ZrO₂), these advanced ceramic bolts offer significantly greater fracture toughness and impact resistance than many traditional engineering ceramics, making them an excellent choice for high-performance assemblies operating in harsh chemical, high-temperature, vacuum, and electrically sensitive environments.

These Zirconia ceramic bolts offer substantially higher fracture toughness, greater impact resistance, and superior resistance to mechanical shock, making them ideal for assemblies subjected to vibration, repeated loading, or mechanical stress.

Alumina ceramic bolts, by comparison, provide higher hardness, greater stiffness, and can typically withstand higher continuous operating temperatures. They are often selected for extreme heat, wear, and electrical insulation applications where maximum rigidity is more important than toughness.

Key Features

  • Manufactured from high-performance Zirconia (ZrO₂) ceramic

Ceramic Key Properties

  • Temperature Stability: Zirconia retains mechanical strength better than many engineering materials at elevated temperatures. With a maximum service temperature of up to 2,400ºC in highly controlled or inert atmospheres.

Chemical Resistance: This material has excellent resistance to acids, alkalis, solvents, saltwater and oxidation.

Electrical Insulation: Ziconia screws are ideal where electrical isolation is required, galvanic corrosion must be avoided and non-conductive assemblies are needed.

High Mechanical Strength: Zirconia is one of the strongest engineering ceramics available. Compared with alumina ceramics, zirconia offers significantly higher toughness and impact resistance.

  • Non-Magnetic: making it suitable for MRI equipment, electronics manufacturing, semiconductor systems and scientific instrumentation.

High Purity / Cleanroom Compatibility: Zirconia generates very low contamination and is commonly used in semiconductor wafer handling, vacuum systems, medical devices, and cleanroom equipment

Corrosion Resistance: Unlike metals, zirconia does not rust or oxidize significantly and is immune to galvanic corrosion.

Biocompatibility: Zirconia is widely used in medical and dental applications because it is biocompatible, non-toxic, chemically inert and non-allergenic.

  • Dimensional Stability: Ceramic Zirconia is able to have minimal creep at moderate temperatures, excellent shape retention, low deformation under load, and stable precision tolerances.

Acoustic Properties: The high stiffness gives good vibration transmission for acoustic applications and is used in specialist audio and instrumentation applications.

Optical Properties: Zirconia can be partially translucent in specialized grades and has high refractive index properties.

Oxidation & Environmental Stability: Zirconia has oxidation and environmental stability as it is highly resistant to oxidation, moisture, steam, and most corrosive atmospheres.
